Boob Tube Friday

Happy Friday.

I’ve decided that every Friday I’ll be discussing T.V. shows.

I’ll start today with my all-time favorite show, Supernatural. I love all things supernatural and paranormal. As you can tell by the type of books I write. Anything that scares most people gets my adrenaline pumping. To say I am obsessed with the show would be putting it mildly. Though it’s no longer on-having aired for 15 seasons- I still rewatch it over and over and over…well, you get the point. I have supernatural clothes, Funko pops, Action figures, glasses and cups, just to name a few.

My husband introduced it to me when it first aired. I came into a few episodes in, so it was a bit confusing. My hubby did his best to fill me in.

There are these two brothers who crisscross the country fighting ghosts, vampires, werewolves etc…. The lead actors are gorgeous, (Jensen Ackles and Jarad Padalecki,) so I thought, why now give it a try. I think my hubby regrets that now because as I said, I’m obsessed with it. I also got my daughter watching it and we always quote sentences from the shows.

It wasn’t just the hunky guys that had me coming back for more, though it didn’t hurt. It was the compelling episodes. Each episode they battle a different evil. I’ve never really been much of a vampire lover, but the stories really drew me in. (And now I write about Vampires)

The first episode starts with Sam, little brother, having fun with his fiancé on Halloween. We learn Sam doesn’t talk to his family. Cut to the night and Sam hears something downstairs so goes to check it out. It’s a burglar. He begins to fight it with crazy easy fighting skills. It turns out, it’s his big brother Dean. The classic line is, Dad went on a hunting trip, and he hasn’t been home in a few days.

I won’t get into all of it because I could go on and on. Long story short, Sam tells Dean he doesn’t hunt anymore and asks him to leave. Sam and his fiancé go back to bed and Sam wakes up to something dripping on his face. He opens his eyes and sees his girlfriend on the ceiling, bleeding with fire all around her. We learn from there that their mother died the exact same way when Sam was a baby.

The first season is about the boys looking for their father and to avenge their mother’s death to a yellow-eyed demon. We learn then that by saying “Hunting” they mean hunting creatures. The first and second seasons we learn more about the boys and their father.

I like that, though most of the episodes are intriguing and action packed- it also has comedic aspects to it. Dean loves teasing Sam as any big brother would. There comedic episodes I particularly like are:

Yellow Fever

The French Connection

Bad Day At Blackrock

Changing Channels.

Mystery Spot.

And some very touching ones I won’t get into because they would ruin the stories.

I really want to get into more of it, but the post would be endless.

So, if you haven’t seen Supernatural, I would strongly suggest watching it. It’s on several streaming platforms. Supernatural Summary:

This haunting series follows the thrilling yet terrifying journeys of Sam and Dean Winchester, two brothers who face an increasingly sinister landscape as they hunt monsters. After losing their mother to a supernatural force, the brothers were raised by their father as soldiers who track mysterious and demonic creatures. Violent memories and relationship-threatening secrets add additional burdens on Sam and Dean as they investigate all things that go bump in the night. As old tricks and tools are rendered useless and friends betray them, the brothers must rely on each other as they encounter new enemies.

Come back on Monday where I will be sharing movies I’ve watched, good and bad.

So TTFN.
